We had the good fortune of connecting with Agnes Grumslys and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Agnes, why did you pursue a creative career?
As we know, art comes in all different shapes and forms. For me, art is people. I know I create beauty from inside out, and not just on a superficial level. The results show on their skin, and on top of that, I make someone feel more beautiful, confident in themselves. This is the best reward for me, and I couldn’t be happier. I chose this path for my career. I feel blessed.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I create art in my workspace in a different way. The way I view art is achieving healthy and glowing skin. That’s how I see and think of skin. I don’t treat all of my clients the same because it would not be fair to them. After all, no skin is the same. What sets me apart is my passion for what I do. I don’t dread going to work each morning. I look forward to it. The most important ingredient or a secret to my work is LOVE. I put so much love and attention into what I do. I think people see and feel for themselves. And no, it hasn’t been easy to get to where I am today. It took many years of education, time, money, and energy. I had times where I thought I should quit. After all, I thought this would never work because people do not burst right at your place as soon as you open your business. It’s at least 3-5 years to build trust with clients and make your brand known. In the beginning, it’s always you will end up spending more than you earn because you are putting all in your business for it to bloom. For people who don’t have any support or other financial source to rely on, it would be tough to get started with it, but hey, nothing is impossible. The hard shifts I had as a business owner isn’t something I regret, it made me stronger as a person and even helped me find more creative, innovative ways to brand myself and be more outspoken about what I do and educate people. I take pride in my work because I love it so much. It’s my baby that I will nurture till I stop breathing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
California is beautiful no matter where you go, but some of my favorite places where you can find beauty, fun are the beach, Catalina Islands, and lovely but hot Palm Springs. If you want to see some interesting, artsy, hippy people, Venice Beach is the place to be at.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
💯My family. Mom Gina and dad Ken; without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They are my biggest supporters and my rock. I cannot be more thankful for all of my educators from whom I learned all the new and innovative techniques. They helped me grow as a person and become an expert on new trendy methods and treatments to distinguish myself in the industry and keep my clients guessing what’s coming next.
Thank you, Yakov Gerschovich, for teaching a fantastic sculptural lifting facial (Buccal Massage) technique. I cannot forget my beautiful DMK Senior Account manager and educator, Chelsea.
I’d also like to thank the Career Beauty Academy from whom I got my license to practice and create beauty. It’s been many years of education, which I continue to improve to become the best I can be for my clients and myself.
